We are professional designer-makers with more than 30 years experience.
We have run courses for people who want to learn and develop hand leatherworking skills for over 15 years.
Many students set up their own workshops or work in established businesses.
For others it becomes a rewarding & creative pastime which does not require a massive outlay on machinery or premises.
It can be carried out with a small number of hand tools, working at home in a spare room or a garden shed!

Bookings are being taken for our 2008 courses.
The programme of short courses build upon the techniques described in ‘The Leatherworking Handbook’ by Valerie Michael. They take place in our Tetbury workshop. The Maximum number of students is 5 per course or only 4 students for specialist courses, so everyone receives individual tuition.
All tools are provided and a range of leathers, hand tools and other materials are available to buy. Patterns and course notes are provided for specialist courses. Lists of suppliers are provided to all students.
To attend any of the following courses please download and complete the booking form and send by post or fax. Or you can book by telephone. Deposits can be paid by credit/debit cards or cheque

THE LEATHERWORKING HANDBOOK by Valerie Michael

My book was first published in hardback in 1993 and it has been in print ever since. About 40,000 English language copies have been sold to date. In 2005 the German edition was published and the Spanish edition is now available.
The Leatherworking Handbook was written as a practical guide to those wishing to make hand stitched leathergoods. It is based upon my own experience and knowledge as a designer/maker, and is the book that I wish was available to me when I first started.
It was as a result of the success of the book and requests to give classes that I first started the training courses.
It is now possible to buy copies of the new re-print from me directly.
Simply fill in the order form - please indicate if you would like me to sign it or make a dedication.
